The Perfect Job

The Perfect Job

I had the perfect job teaching at a community college. I loved it. I had small classes where I could really  interact with the students. The campus was close to home, so the commute was short—no real traffic. I  had a very flexible schedule, with no classes on Fridays and summers off. I had been teaching there for  23 years and didn’t see any reason to leave.
Then came COVID.

Right in the middle of spring break, all on-campus classes came to an abrupt halt. We had one week to learn how to teach them online. My learning curve was small as I was already teaching my upper-level classes online, so it was no big deal. Or so I thought. When teaching resumed, it was not the same. I missed the one-on-one interaction that I took for granted. It was awful. When the college decided that we would not be returning to campus in the fall, I chose to retire at the end of 2020. Nevertheless, it  was still my perfect job. There was no way that I would ever be fortunate enough to have yet another perfect job, but as they say, never say never.

Fast forward to summer 2021. I’m shopping at the Vogue, and Erin approaches me and says, “Hey  Stacey, didn’t you retire?”
“I sure did,” I respond.  I’m expecting her to say “Congratulations” or something like that. But instead, she says, ”Want a job?” My initial thought was, No way! I had just retired. But what the heck. In August 2021, I started working at Vintage Vogue.

Could I be so lucky the second time around as I was the first? I work 3 days a week, so  I can still take care of whatever. The hours allow me to enjoy both my morning cup of Joe and dinner with my hubby in the evening. I see the merchandise firsthand, and some days, that’s just plain dangerous. I work with smart women who know how to have fun. And, I work one-on-one once again, only now, it’s with women, not students. It doesn’t get much better than this!
So, what are you waiting for? Do you have a few hours a week to spare? Do you want an opportunity to work with the nicest customers in Marble Falls? If so, consider working at the Vogue. Just click on the link below to get started.
