Survival Guide to Shopping with your Mother...đź’•

For some of us shopping with our mother is a pleasant experience filled with cherished mother-daughter moments. For others though, the experience can be closest compared to a painful bikini wax with irritation that lingers for days.

With vacation days upon us, these shopping trips may become more frequent so below we have provided you with a brief survival guide to cope with mother-daughter shopping season. Happy shopping!

Mother-Daughter Shopping Survival Guide

1. Bring a shopping list. If you are out shopping with the purpose of buying items you need, take a list. Share the items on the list with your mom to speed up the pointless looking around that may occur to either of you. This will save time and frustration for both of you ladies.

2. Be firm, but pleasant. If you are NOT out shopping with the purpose of buying items you need, set a budget. Some wonderful loving moms think you look beautiful in everything and somehow make you feel certain purchases are justified when deep down you know the item will most likely hang in your closet until you just decide to consign it at Vintage Vogue. A budget will allow you to keep firm but pleasant because the fact that you didn’t purchase the mom-approved item will be all because of a budget and not that it just wasn’t your taste.

3.  Humor one another and try on items recommended by your mother, even if you know there isn’t enough money in the world they could pay you to wear it. Your mother dressed you for however many years (stop holding it against her!) and still feels she knows what looks good on you and sometimes mother does know best. OR you both might just get a good laugh and your mom will get to know your taste even more. A win-win!

4. Savor the moment. We never know what tomorrow will bring, so if you are blessed enough to have a mother with whom to shop..enjoy it! Find out what tends to frustrate you about the experience and prepare what you might do or say to avoid any unpleasant situations. If you find yourself getting impatient, separate yourself if only for a few moments. Keep in mind you will only have one mother.

Always remember, compromising and patience usually produces a pleasant experience!
