My Recession Blues…

My Recession Blues…

My Recession Blues…are you feeling it too?

Been awhile since my last blog…this summer has been giving me the Blues!

Hello there again. It’s been a while since I last blogged, but this summer has just been givin’ me the blues.

First we had the gas crisis—I can’t believe it was actually $5 a gallon. I was so appalled that I resorted to driving my itty bitty Miata. However, I realized that I’m not as young as I used to be. It took me a little bit more time to get in and out of that baby than it used to, but I managed.

Secondly, we have the heat—STILL. How in the world are we still in the 100s and it’s just now August? August is supposed to be our hottest month. But, now that it’s here, it’s not so bad because now we are acclimated to this crazy heat. Still, September can’t get here soon enuff.

Thirdly, even with a recession looming, small businesses like ours just do not have enough employees. You’ve seen the signs everywhere, “We’re hiring! Inquire within. Get paid today!” How are folks surviving? I just don’t get it…….

These are such odd times.

But, I had to figure out how. to. shake. those. blues.

So, I decided to make one simple commitment: walk M-F, no ifs, ands, or buts.

A girlfriend, her two big dogs, and I get in a good hour-long walk every morning. It’s super early—5:45 early, super peaceful, and super necessary. When we miss these walks, our days are just not the same, so we are Relentless. Getting up at the crack of dawn is difficult, but that’s one of the reasons I have a smile on my face and a stride in my step. If you aren’t an early bird or can’t get in an hour, then a 15-minute walk a few times during the week will suffice. It’s hard to get started, but after a while, your body craves it. So, lace up those shoes, take a short walk and get that heart rate working. Before you know it, you will forget about the price of gas   and this ridiculous heat, at least for a short while. I promise.

After my walk and cup of Joe, I head to the Vogue to see what new items have arrived. (just to see if anything is calling my name 🙂

Which brings me to my second point.

National Bargain Week is August 8-14th. Time to get with your girlfriends and head this way for a friendly competition to see who finds the best bargain. Loser buys lunch. If one of your girlfriends can’t make it, then shop for her. You pretty much know her style and size anyway. You know that you can always find a must-have item at a reasonable price here at the Vogue. Sure, our semi-annual clearance sale just ended, but now we have new stuff that you have to see!

Friendly reminder: once it’s gone, it’s gone, so hurry in.

Anyway, these odd times might last a while. Who knows? But with a few interventions, the blues will not…
