Mixed Feelings About Mixing Your Jewelry?… I Had.

Mixed Feelings About Mixing Your Jewelry?… I Had.

It’s a common jewelry myth that you shouldn’t combine different metals. But what I’ve discovered is that it’s such an easy way to add some personality to your outfits.

It’s hard to think that gold and silver jewelry should be mixed. To be honest I’m one of those people who thinks that way.

Well I’m here to tell you that I’m going to give it a shot on mixing my metals. Am I Nervous? Yes, but with the help of some tips I found, you and I can both open a whole new way of accessorizing our jewelry.

It might take us some time to get used to it. So our goal is to achieve a well balanced look while combining our various metals. We should at least have one two-tone combined piece that can pretty much be worn with either metal. (I guess I have to be honest and say I love the classic 2-tone watch band…just saying)

Here are 7 tips that helped me:

  • To make it easy for you to start. Keep the backdrop simple, so choose clothes which feature blocks of color rather than busy patterns which end up fighting attention with your jewelry.
  • Next up, pick a piece of jewelry that you want to highlight and go from there.
  • Try a bold metal like silver or gold as part of your statement piece. Stacking or layering different textures and stones. Play with your jewelry.
  • If you want to highlight a beautiful silver necklace, you could add a few other thinner different metal necklaces. Wearing different bracelets with similar silver tones or similar gold tones. Experiment, experiment, experiment.
  • To master mixing your jewelry you need to mix more than just your metal jewelry! Dont be afraid to pop in some color either. Make it fun.
  • Pay attention to your neckline too…but really don’t be afraid to try, try, try different pieces. Think outside the box. You will also see that either silver or gold will look great with any skin tone…some us think that a certain color or metal looks better with our skin tone but it is just not necessarily true it is more of a personal choice.

  • Who says that the only 2-tone you will want to work with are silver & gold? Remember rose gold and silver…or what about all three: Rose Gold, Gold & Silver! Wow girl you got this.

Whatever you hope to achieve, the possibilities are endless. Ladies, I hope these tips helped you as much as they helped me. I will dare myself and go for all three. What do you say? Wow in this photo I even dropped in leather…mmm well leather & lace? That’s for another story.

The main thing to remember when mixing metals is that there are no rules. Tell your story through your precious jewelry and curate a look that’s personal to you. If your looking for some help, stop by Vintage Vogue…we’re all eager to help you…See you at the Vogue!
