Don’t just shop…shop resale/consignment...

Don’t just shop…shop resale/consignment...

Who is not trying to tighten their belts? Financially that is…well maybe in your midriff too, wouldn’t hurt (but that’s another post).  Like many others, my hubby and I are watching our cash flow.

One way to do this and I have done so for many years is shopping resale recommended by many financial experts. Well that’s why I decided to open a resale/consignment boutique, there were none that I enjoyed in the area (again thats a story for another post).  Early this week we had the bad news that clothing prices were going way up. That hurts! So now is the time to learn how to buy resale/consignment. Now why do I say “learn” how to buy resale/consignment? Well it’s because it’s a whole other way of shopping…you don’t just go in and find a particular shoe and ask the clerk the size you want and maybe the color you want, nope you can’t do that here. Here are some savvy tips that will help you like:

  1. Map out a route of the resale shops you want to visit.
  2. Shop frequently. The more often you visit, the better buys you’ll find.
  3. Look for the unlikely.
  4. Canvass every corner, poke through all sizes, explore all departments.
  5. When you see something that calls out to you, grab it! Chances are it won’t be there the next time you visit.

Now I am not saying for you to start only shopping resale/consignment, we don’t want to discourage you from shopping retail completely.
